I’d never heard of Hippopost until today, but I’m glad I found it. 
Hippopost lets you send free postcards by mail out to friends, family, or just anyone. You can upload your own image and write your own message on your free postcard. I’ll give you fair warning and say the site was on the slow side, but I was eventually able to complete all steps:
1. Visit www.hippopost.com and select what interface you’d like to use to send your free postcard.
2. These steps will be for the web browser interface so click “HippoOnline”.
3. Upload a photo to be printed on the postcard then click “Next”.
4. Write a custom message and fill in the fields for the delivery address.
5. You will then create an account at Hippopost and log in.
6. Hippopost will prompt you to review your card once before submitting everything!
Hippopost lets you send 2 free postcards per day. They claim a 7 day turnaround for delivery, but others report the postcard taking longer.

This is good except it doesn’t always arrive in a timely matter but it is free. This site is down (4-9-2010) not sure if it is out or just down for service.
