Normally, a single CARFAX report for an automobile will cost $29 dollars. Carfax.com is currently offering a credit for one free report for new sign ups. Follow the link to sign up. After registering you will be forwarded to your account page, which will display a record of your credit. Use a VIN from any car to pull up your free report. My credit expired on 10/21 – 30 days from sign up date.
To test this offer I grabbed a VIN from a vehicle for sale on Autotrader.com. Autotrader always lists a “Free CARFAX report” link for each vehicle for sale. Using my credit, I was able to see a much more detailed maintenance log compared to the always available “free report”. I observed that the free report omitted certain maintenance visits. Be aware that once you use your credit, you won’t be able to view the fully detailed report more than once. It would be wise to print the full report as soon as you use your credit.
